Omega Watches… Real Versus Replica

The name Omega is famously synonymous with the world of space travel.

Indeed, on 21 July 1969, when Neil Armstrong uttered those now immortal words ‘one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind’ he was actually wearing his own Omega ‘Speedmaster’ – a professional chronographic watch.

Even before that though, and as early as 1957, NASA were using the ‘Speedmaster professional’ as their official timekeeper.

Even now, it remains the only watch to ever have been used on the moon, earning it its unique nickname of ‘The Moonwatch’.

But what about those of us, those nearness to anything space related, is watching Patrick Moore on ‘The Sky at Night’?

Of course we CAN still purchase Omega watches, but… for a lot less money, and with very little visual difference, we could buy Omega replica watches.

A good quality duplicate is hard to tell from the real thing, and only we’d know the difference!
Famous Omega watch wearers are Prince William, George Clooney, John F Kennedy, and Nicole Kidman, and since 1995, James Bond has always worn an Omega watch (so he’ll be alright if he ends up in space!).

Both Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig both wear an Omega Seamaster Professional Chronometer as James Bond, and Omega have released special limited edition 007 versions!

With such a prestigious history of precision timekeeping, it’s hardly surprising that Omega watches retail at such high prices. Anything upwards of two thousand dollars is to be expected, with the top end of the market reaching over ten thousand dollars!

Omega clone horologes will usually set you back less than two HUNDRED dollars, and no one but you (and a professional jeweler or watchmaker) will know it isn’t the real thing!
