Lenovo: Apple’s Loss on China’s Market

Apple was confirmed to lose the opportunity to conduct business development in China. This is because the smartphone market in China had already dominated by Lenovo. The statement was made by Lenovo Chairman Liu Chuanzhi, as quoted by Yahoo News from Financial Times, Monday (07/05/2010).

“We were lucky because Steve Jobs has a bad attitude and not too concerned with China,” Liu said.

According to Liu, his company, which is based in China, has a smartphone that can compete tightly with Apple, LePhone. Liu is sure that LePhone is more acceptable in China because of the language customizable and user interface that suit the China market better.

China Unicom is the only service provider that managed to market iPhone in China, despite its competitor, China Mobile is the first operator interested in becoming a partner of Apple. Currently, approximately 47 percent of Lenovo’s market comes from China in 2009, and this sector became the most profitable one.
